As with all the beaches along this stretch of the Norfolk coast Cart Gap is lovely sandy beach. It also faces the same issues with erosion so the beach is divided up by wooden groynes and backed by a seawall. It’s also the site of the RNLI Happisburgh Lifeboat Station, the original lifeboat station was in Happisburgh but the site was swallowed up by the relentless coastal erosion.
